Personal Energizers – Natural Highs

What energizes you? What gives you a Natural High?
Think of what activities, people, food, places, etc. seem to give you more energy.
“If you can place yourself in the company of people who are infused with spirit, their energy gives you spark and facilitation — a confidence boost. Fortunately, the electricity of spirit is contagious. When this positive energy of well-beingness circulates through your system, people often refer to you as being ‘lit up.’”–Benjamin Disraeli

Energy Pick-Me-Ups (from Stop Eating Your Heart Out, chap. 5)
Here are a couple of pick-me-ups you can use rather than reaching for a sugary treat or an energy drink when you need an energy boost:
• Stand up. Allow your arms to make large figure eights. Great. Now switch and go in the other direction. As you move your arms through the air, you are increasing your energy field, and you should be feeling more energized.
• Think of something that brings you joy. Imagine this joy moving through your body, into all your cells. Breathe in the joy.
Exercise: Now you make your list…
On a daily basis — challenge yourself to include at least one of your Personal Energizers per day, hopefully more. Some of these you have no control over, but you can visualize what doesn’t exist. For instance, if the ocean energizes you and you are not physically near one, spend some time visualizing yourself at the ocean (really “be” there – what do you see? smell? hear? taste? feel?).
Remember to continue monitoring your energy level (see http://stopeatingyourheartout.com/2012/how-energized-are-you/). Notice how your energy level changes when you spend time engaged in a Personal Energizer/Natural High. We are energy beings and need to keep our battery pack charged!

Love this post. Surely, I will create my own list of personal energizers. Thanks, Meryl!
I love to be out for a walk and I love to be with good friends! a good conversation always energizes me
Great post thanks Meryl. My personal favorites, exercise, conversations, laughter and meditation!
Great recommendations! My favorite way to infuse energy is to be around other people with tons of good energy! It really does transmit itself over to me! LOL And, of course any conversation where ideas are swirling is my favorite kind of energy. The unseen eye
Thanks Meryl – what a great thing to focus on- I tend to turn to food and that tends to block the natural highs
What a lovely post. I'm going to add hot fragrant bubble baths, waves lapping at your toes while you dig them in the sand, an unexpected phone call with an old friend, and the smell and feel of freshly laundered sheets.
I love your idea of us being an energy pack. Even visualising that thought makes me feel more energised!
What a great list of personal energizers! My best energizers are swimming, being outside, and dancing. I get up from my desk quite often during the day to dance around a little.
LOVED this post, Meryl! I am going to take some time to reflect on what really energizes me and keep those things in mind when I need a little boost!
Great ideas! Personally, I run to keep myself on a natural high! I fell that any type of exercise is great for our minds – in addition to our bodies. Thanks again for the great information!
Terrific suggestions – love this post! I've found this same approach so helpful, myself. Thanks for sharing, Meryl!! Great graphic, BTW!
I realized after reading this that I've integrated a few of them in my everyday life … where they are readily available … and I call on them when I find myself distracted or in a slump. Now I know what to call them! Thanks, Meryl!
I spend most of my waking hours with my young children – they certainly have a lot of energy and you're right, it does rub off on me!
Got me thinking! Thanks
